Creative England has opened two new schemes of Lottery funding, delegated from the BFI, to support the development of filmmaking talent in the English regions.
The Development Fund is open to individual writers, writer/directors and/or producers based in the English regions for the development of all types of feature films, including animation and documentary. Applications are also invited from writer/director/producer teams. Funding is available for the costs of developing a screenplay (or the equivalent for documentaries) such as research costs, writer’s fees, script editor/developer support and script readings.
The Film Networks Fund is open to networks and organisations whose work supports and promotes filmmaking activities in the English regions. Funding is available for a range of eligible activity including provision of editorial and technical support for emerging talent looking to produce work, delivery of networking, screening and industry speaker events and master classes, and provision of peer-to-peer support, mentoring, training and advice.

The new Greater Manchester Arts Health website has been developed a useful information portal and one stop shop for information, documents and news about arts health and wellbeing for professionals working across the sectors.
The website can be found at www.greatermanchesterartshealth.org.uk
It features a comprehensive and growing searchable library primarily founded from a public health approach to arts and health. It is anticipated that it will build into a useful one stop shop for documents about arts and health for local authorities, arts, health and voluntary sectors. Contributions to the library are welcome at any time.
Although it has a Greater Manchester focus, much of the information on the website is relevant to a wider framework of arts and health in other settings and on a wider geographical footprint. Membership of the network is open to anyone working in arts and health locally, regionally, nationally or internationally.
The website and monthly news updates compliment existing arts health web resources and are synchronous with Arts for Health at Manchester Metropolitan University and the National Arts and Health Network run by London Arts Health Forum.
Greater Manchester Arts Health Network promotes arts and cultural interventions as an integral part of the offer to address public health and health inequalities challenges. The positioning of the network within a wider GM Public Health Network builds critical cross sector understanding and support.

All About Audiences Masterclass with Debbie Richards
Pricing is an essential part of the marketing mix, but the reasons behind consumer purchasing are often unfathomable. This masterclass on Tuesday 6 December in Preston will explore the new science of behavioural economics. It will offer an insight into consumer psychology and how an effective pricing strategy can help you respond the irrational way in which customers make decisions.
- Why does a more expensive medicine work more effectively than an identical cheaper one?
- Why do we splash out on an expensive meal but use a voucher to save £1 in the supermarket?
- How can anchor pricing and decoy pricing change the perceived value of your product?
What implications do these questions have for the arts?
*This workshop is suitable for organisations who charge for admissions, membership, catering or retail.
Debbie Richards
The session will be led by Debbie Richards, Director of Baker Richards, a leading international consultancy in the arts and wider cultural sector. Baker Richards specialises in marketing, pricing, research and analysis that helps arts organisations to become more financially sustainable.
