Funding
Trying to get funding can be one of the most difficult areas of starting out in business. It can be an uphill struggle getting money to kick-start your idea, but there are schemes available – from generic start-up grants available from companies such as The Princes Trust, to more project specific streams from organisations like the Arts Council Northwest.
The main things to remember are to be realistic about what you expect, and to make sure you keep up to date by joining the mailing lists of any organisations you think might be able to help. Many of the funding streams that were once available have dried up and bear in mind that you may face a lot of competition. Many funders will not fund projects that have already taken place so if you are serious about securing funding, make sure you do your research as to what the various lenders will and wont fund.
