Vision+Media has been awarded £1million by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) to help prepare the region’s digital and creative professionals for the arrival of MediaCityUK.

Vision+Media has secured a contract to continue its Digital Media Skills Programme (DMSP), in partnership with Skillset, for the next two years, with the initial £1million funding projects until March 2011. The DMSP benefits people working in the region’s creative sectors including; TV, Radio, Publishing, Music, Games, Film and Digital & Creative Services.

The programme’s objective is to fill the digital skills gaps and ensure that the North West has a workforce that is able to make the most of opportunities in the region including MediaCityUK and the move of five major BBC Departments to the North West. It is hoped that around 1,200 individuals will have received support via the skills programme, by March 2011.
