Call for Proposals - Summer House @ Castlefield Gallery

Date Posted

15 July 2010

Castlefield Gallery is inviting artist groups/collectives within 100 miles of Manchester to propose projects (exhibitions, events or performances) in the lower gallery space. The projects can be weekly, fortnightly or event based.

Deadline for artist proposals: Sunday 18 July 2010

Summer House will act as a temporary ‘2nd home’ for artist groups and a place for multiple staggered projects/exhibitions. It can be used as an ‘urban retreat’ or as a public exhibition space to test collaborative or curatorial methods. Summer House will act as a platform that will be self determining and responsive to time and space. Castlefield Gallery will select a number of projects based on quality, how you plan to manage the project and logistical feasibility.

Proposal guidelines:

Please send your proposal (one side of A4 max) to Jennifer Dean, jennifer@castlefieldgallery.co.uk. In addition, please include the group’s biography/CV. Please state clearly which days or weeks between the 27 August and 10 October are NOT suitable for your project/event.

Whilst there is no artist fee, Castlefield Gallery will provide travel and subsistence, marketing and promotion, tools, basic equipment and advice. To download the gallery plan go to: http://www.castlefieldgallery.co.uk/Gallery.asp?akey=2

n.b. Coinciding with Summer House, Castlefield Gallery has programmed the Feral Trade Café (www.feraltrade.org) from 27 August to 10 October to occupy the mezzanine gallery space.
