Join Wes Brown, director of Dead Ink Books, for this workshop on the writers’ craft, which also includes a look at digital media and new publishing formats. The workshop is comprised of two sessions, with the morning section looking at the writers’ craft – how to develop your self-editing and writing skills. In the afternoon, the workshop will provide insights into the changing nature of the publishing industry.
Places are limited to 10 people.
Dead Ink Books publish the best new poetry and prose by contemporary authors across the UK. They are supported by Arts Council England, and distribute literature through apps, ebooks and online.
Workshop leader Wes Brown is a novelist, critic and editor based in Leeds. He is the director of Dead Ink Books, Information Manager at the National Association for Literature Development and Young Writers Co-ordinator at the National Association of Writers in Education. His debut novel, Shark, will be published in 2012.
Neo Artists have lockable studio space available to rent. The studios are situated in the town centre of Bolton on Corporation Street, opposite the Market Place shopping centre. The site includes print room facilities and 3d workshop.

Bolton Museums are looking for craft stalls to attend the annual Garden Party and Dog Show at Smithills Hall on Sunday 15th July, 12pm – 4pm.
Do you produce high quality craft or hand-made products, jewellery or homemade food/local produce that you’d like to sell on the day?
Stalls are £20 and include a trestle table and chair but no marquee/gazebo therefore you must provide your own if you wish to use one.

Virgin Media Shorts is a short film competition that champions undiscovered talent in the UK. The competition gives applicants the chance to show their work in cinemas, on TV, online and on mobiles (via the mobile Internet).
The following is available:
- Thirteen film-makers win a chance to show their work on more than 200 cinema screens nationwide.
- One winner wins £30,000 to make their next film.
- One ‘People’s Choice’ winner will be awarded £5,000 worth of new film kit, along with the college or school with the most entrants.
Applications must be submitted by 12 July 2012.
