Artist, Horticultural Commission: Granby Winter Garden, Granby Four Streets Community Land Trust

Granby Winter Garden will be a new community-owned space in the heart of Liverpool 8.  Two Victorian terraced houses will be transformed into a beautiful indoor garden and a unique resource for creative community action, cultural production and exchange.

Granby Four Streets Community Land Trust, in partnership with Bluecoat, wish to commission an artist, maker or collective to develop a horticultural work or series of works for Granby Winter Garden, in collaboration with the design team, Assemble, and local people.  As well as devising a planting scheme, there is scope for the commissioned artist to propose interventions into the Winter Garden space,  and within the local neighbourhood, or to propose events, performances or workshops that accompany the making of the garden.

Applications from artists who actively engage with communities or publics within their practice, or who can demonstrate an interest in planting or growing within their work are particularly welcomed. Artists working in any discipline, or across disciplines, and at any stage in their career are invited to apply.

The project will take place between May and October 2017 to include research and development, delivery and evaluation.

An Artist’s Fee of £4500 and a production budget of £4000 is offered. Flexible studio and production facilities are available.

Wigan Bus Station – Public Art Commission, TfGM (deadline: 7 Oct 2016)

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is seeking Expressions of Interest to design, develop and deliver permanent public artwork(s)/feature(s) for the new Wigan Bus Station in Greater Manchester. Community consultation has taken place and this has informed the potential themes for the artwork, detailed in the Brief.

The inclusion of art on the transport network enhances the travel environment and provides TfGM with an opportunity to engage with local stakeholders and allow communities to highlight local history, local character and future aspirations on public transport infrastructure and the network.

The application process consists of 2 stages, Stage 1 – an Expression of Interest (EOI), from which a short-list of artists will be selected and invited to produce a more detailed Stage 2 application, for which a fee will be available.
