Exploring the use of drawing in primary and secondary schools and cultural organisations - 18th June

Power Drawing: Active Learning - A professional development workshop exploring the use of drawing in primary and secondary schools and cultural organisations.

18 June, 9.45am- 3.30pm

Neoartists Studios, Corporation Chambers, Corporation Street, Bolton BL1 2AN

In partnership with the Find Your Talent team the Campaign for Drawing are offering a FREE one-day workshop for teachers from primary and secondary schools exploring how drawing can be used as a tool for learning across the curriculum. We also welcome artists and visual arts educators who work with primary and secondary school children and children in community or gallery and museum settings.

What are the benefits of the workshop?

The workshop will help participants feel more confident about using drawing as a tool for learning, furthering teachers’ and educators’ understanding of how drawing can be used, not only in art and design education, but also to support learning in history, geography, verbal literacy, maths and science. The workshop will demonstrate how drawing offers a powerful way of understanding experience, of sharing and developing ideas, of communicating thoughts and feelings and making things happen. It will provide:

·         evidence of drawing as active learning to inspire teachers and educators  to make greater use of drawing in their everyday teaching and practice

·         a resource pack for professional development to help promote the use of drawing across the curriculum

·         advocacy about the use of drawing to help develop a vision and policy for learning through drawing

The workshop will include practical activities, discussions and time for planning and reflection, making for a varied programme focusing on visual, verbal and spatial literacy.
